BUILD Grants [NAACP Units ONLY]
BUILD Grants are funding sources intended to meet the dynamic needs of units to execute community-level initiatives and projects aligned to the NAACP's enduring commitments (health and well-being, inclusive economy, education innovation, race and justice, and environmental and climate justice) and our 'DNA' (racial equity, civic engagement, and supportive policies and institutions). These funds can also be used to support activities to build the strength and effectiveness of the unit, pilot new solutions which have the potential to be scaled for broad impact, and/or expand membership and participation of all units in the State/State-area Conference.
Here is a list of current BUILD Grant initiatives available for application.
- ACE Your Health Initiative (by invitation only): The ACE Your Health initiative promotes equitable health solutions to help people lead their healthiest lives. Through interactive community forums and wellness surveys, the initiative aims to understand the resources available to promote healthy communities.
- Community Health Equity Initiative (by invitation only): The NAACP and CVS Health are committed to taking bold action to improve health outcomes for everyone and eliminate health disparities. We're committed to supporting and building healthy people, healthy community, and a healthy planet. This grant aims to achieve our common goal to eliminate racial health disparities by providing up to $20,000 in funding to select NAACP State Conferences/Units to start or supplement an existing health equity program.
- Menthol Cigarette Ban Initiative (by invitation only): The Menthol Cigarette Ban Initiative aims to ban menthol and promote tobacco cessation. This funding focuses on community mobilization to achieve the ban through advocacy, communication, education, and organizing.
