Dr. William Montague Cobb Award

The Dr. William Montague Cobb Award was established to honor individuals and organizations that have made a significant impact in the field of health in recognition of the extraordinary social justice advocacy and legacy of Dr. William Montague Cobb, who served as the President of the NAACP from 1976 to 1983. 

Award Categories

National

The Dr. W. Montague Cobb Award is presented annually to an outstanding individual by the NAACP National Health Committee, in recognition of special achievement nationally in the areas of health and social justice advocacy, health education, and promotion, or health fundraising and research. This award is presented to a selected recipient each year at the Annual NAACP Convention.

State

The Dr. W. Montague Cobb Award is presented annually by the NAACP National Health Committee to an outstanding state health committee chair, in recognition of special achievement statewide in the areas of health and social justice advocacy, health education and promotion, or health fundraising and research. This award is presented to a selected recipient each year at the Annual NAACP Convention.

Individual

The Dr. W. Montague Cobb Award is presented annually by the NAACP National Health Committee to an outstanding individual in a local community, in recognition of special achievement in the areas of health and social justice advocacy, health education and promotion, or health fundraising and research.
