NAACP Youth & College and L’Oréal have teamed up to create exclusive, behind-the-scenes creative industry immersion experiences for young women interested in careers in STEAM, fashion, beauty, and creative production. These one-day experiences are designed to provide real-world exposure, mentorship, and career insight by connecting participants directly with industry professionals in live and studio-based environments.
Through this partnership, selected participants will gain access to professional settings, such as the Image Awards Fashion Show in Los Angeles, California, and an immersion experience at Beyond the Gates Studios in Atlanta, Georgia. Participants will observe creative teams in action, learn how ideas move from concept to execution, and explore career pathways across fashion, beauty, and the broader creative industries.
In addition to the immersive experiences, selected participants will be featured in NAACP Youth & College online webinars, where they will reflect on what they learned, how beauty connects to STEAM, and the career pathways they discovered during their immersive experience—helping to inspire and inform other young people exploring similar interests.
Applicants may apply to one or both experiences through a single application.
Eligibility & Selection Criteria
To be considered, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Identify as a woman
Be between the ages of 18–25 at the time of the experience
Be available to attend the full day of the selected immersion experience
Be willing and able to participate in future NAACP Youth & College online webinars to share reflections and insights from the experience
Additional considerations:
Preference will be given to current NAACP members
Demonstrated interest or experience in STEAM, beauty, fashion, or creative industries is encouraged, but not required
Experience 1: Image Awards Fashion Show Immersion

Participants selected for the Image Awards Fashion Show Immersion will gain exclusive backstage access to a live fashion show production in Los Angeles. Interns will observe and learn from professional makeup artists, designers, stylists, and production teams as they prepare models and execute show-day operations. This experience offers a firsthand look at the collaboration, pacing, and professionalism required to bring a major fashion event to life.
Experience 2: Beyond the Gates Studios Immersion

Participants selected for the Beyond the Gates Studios Immersion will take part in a behind-the-scenes experience at Beyond the Gates Studios in Atlanta. This immersion will introduce participants to creative production in a studio setting, offering exposure to professional workflows, creative teams, and career pathways across the broader entertainment and creative industries.
These immersive experiences are designed to provide career exposure, mentorship, and inspiration for young women exploring pathways at the intersection of STEAM, fashion, beauty, and creative production. Selection for each experience will be made separately.
